Denver -- September 8, 2010 - New for 2010, Denver Public Schools (DPS) is announcing two unique series of events designed to help students and parents learn about school options, navigate the application process through School of Choice, and enroll in elementary, middle and high school programs. 

Colorado is one of 6 states that offers open enrollment, or School of Choice. Within DPS, about 40% of students attend a DPS school other than the one assigned to their neighborhood. 

Middle School Expo and High School Expo Events

Held at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, these events help students and parents decide where they'll attend school for the 2011-2012 school year. The Middle School Expo brings together middle years programs, primarily 6-8 and 6-12 schools, with some K-6, K-8 and K-12 schools. Students and parents can meet principals and teachers, learn how to apply through the School of Choice process and learn about special programs such as Gifted & Talented, Special Education and more. The High School Expo offers the same program, with a focus primarily on 9-12 schools. 

Early Education Scoop Events

For new parents, understanding how to enroll in preschool and kindergarten can be difficult. At the Early Education Scoop, Enrollment Experts will be on hand to answer questions about tuition, transportation, the School of Choice process, special-needs programming, Advanced Kindergarten, English Language Acquisition and dual-language programming, Montessori programs and before- and after-school care.
