Parents, staff and community members will acquire information, tools and strategies to improve and sustain parent engagement in DPS schools. Participants will be able to attend workshops and have access to a variety of resources. Workshops that will be presented are:
· Tutor Training – Everyday Math, Connected Math, Literacy & Writing, CSAP
· Positive Parenting Using PBS (Positive Behavior Support)
· Advocating for Your Exceptional Needs Student to Obtain Successful Outcomes
· Parenting through “Love and Logic”
· Physical Activity, Health and Learning
· Discipline and Restorative Intervention in Schools
· Dealing with Adults in a Positive Way: Even in a Stressful Situation
· Mile High Parents: A Tool for Increasing Parent Engagement at Your School
There is an expectation that after attending this Parent Leadership Institute, parents and teachers will return to their schools and work with their school principal and Collaborative School Committee (CSC) to enhance parent involvement in their school. In addition, every parent will share what they learned with other parents.
