Hara Marano, editor-at-large of Psychology Today, will be in Denver to speak on the High Cost of Invasive Parenting, and read from her new book, "A Nation of Wimps," as a benefit for the East High Community Forum on Wednesday, April 30th.
"A Nation of Wimps" is a warning and a wake-up call to the American public, illustrating how overbearing and overprotective parents are raising a nation of wimps; children who cannot think nor act for themselves, who expect parent intervention to solve all of their problems, and who are unable to initiate independent action. Adolescence is stretching beyond the teen years. An entire generation is getting older, but not growing up.
The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with entertainment in the East High lobby, 1600 Esplanade (East Colfax and Elizabeth Streets), in central Denver. The author's presentation is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with first-come, first-served seating in the auditorium.
