A traditional Mexican touch will be felt around the Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver on May 1st, when two mariachi groups will join their tunes to those of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, for the sixth year in a row at the concert "Un toque de México" or "A touch of Mexico".

Framed into the Cinco de Mayo celebrations, one of the most important for the Mexican community living in the United States, this concert will include Mexican tenor Jose Medina, Mariachi "Sol de mi Tierra" y and Mariachi Juvenil of Bryant Webster, among other musicians, all conducted by Jeffrey Kahane.

The sixth edition of this concert, organized annually by the Consulate General of Mexico in Denver, will offer a musical mosaic with classical pieces, Mexican traditional songs and combinations of both, with Jeff Nevin's arrangements.

On Cinco de Mayo Mexican people commemorate the Battle of Puebla of 1862, in which the Mexican military, with clear disadvantages, defeated the French offensive from Emperor Napoleon III.

This celebration has extended through the United States as the presence of Mexican community has done so, especially in the border states.

The Consul General of Mexico, Eduardo Arnal, will start the Cinco de Mayo celebrations with this concert, where the presence of many other local personalities is expected, as well.

"Un toque de México" concert will take place on May 1st at 7:00 PM at the Boettcher Concert Hall, which is part of the Denver Performing Arts Complex, located at 14th and Curtis streets, in downtown Denver.

The public can get free tickets at the box office or at the Consulate General of Mexico in Denver.

For more information, please contact the Consulate at 303-331-1110, ext. 110 or the box office at 303-623-7876.
