Early Literacy - DRA
The Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA/DRA2) data are used as the measure of
early literacy (this applies to elementary schools only). Schools are rated based on the
percentage of students in Grades K-3 scoring at grade level or above. Only students
enrolled on or before October 1st are included. Scores that were not valid, that is, overall
DRA scores contradicting the oral or comprehension scores, were excluded from the
analysis. Overall scores without oral or comprehension scores cannot be verified and are
given the benefit of the doubt and are included in the analysis.
